AKROS Energy – Storing hydrogen like no one else can.

A research collaboration with LIKAT Rostock has led to the development of a technology that will transform the market: salt-based chemical hydrogen storage—unpressurized, non-toxic, and highly efficient.

This isn’t some exotic lab project. A pilot plant in Rostock is already up and running. TRL 6—and on the way to TRL 7.

Principle of Operation Our technology makes the complex simple.

To store energy, we convert hydrogen gas into a hydrogen-rich solution. This reversible process uses potassium formate and potassium hydrogen carbonate, two readily available compounds. The beauty lies in its simplicity—this makes long-term energy storage affordable and safe.
