Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection supports the project and confirms the early start of measures. The APEX Group, located in Rostock-Laage will build a 100 MW electrolysis plant for the production of green hydrogen at the Laage site by 2027. The German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection has now granted approval for the early start of the project. The project is part of the East German hydrogen hub “doing hydrogen” and is supported by the European IPCEI funding (Important Project of Common European Interest). The expected investment volume is around €199 million. The project is scheduled to start in February 2023.

Upon completion of the transaction, APEX will be listed on the stock exchange under the umbrella of Exceet. APEX will receive approximately EUR 87 million in fresh capital as part of the transaction, of which approx. EUR 70 million will be used to realize the significant project pipeline of more than 1.7 GW and EUR 17 million to repay financial liabilities. In addition, the company is increasing its visibility for customers. APEX’s experienced and technically skilled management team led by CEO Peter Rößner will continue to lead the company’s operations.

The automotive supplier RHODIUS will be the first tenant to supply its new production site with 100% CO2-neutral energy.
APEX Energy Teterow GmbH received on Monday from the Minister for Agriculture and Environment Dr. Till Backhaus the approved BImSch application. On January 25th, 2021 at 12:15 p.m., the Minister for Agriculture and Environment, Dr. Till Backhaus sent the approval notice for the production, storage, power generation and refueling of hydrogen to APEX Energy Teterow GmbH, represented by the managing partner Mr. Mathias Hehmann and Mr. Peter Rößner (CFO). The approval according to § 4 BImSchG is thus official and allows the construction and operation of a hydrogen power plant with an electrolysis capacity of 2MW, the storage of hydrogen in its own hydrogen storage system, the conversion into electricity via a fuel cell with 100 kW electrical power or a 115 kW H2 block-type thermal power station. A battery storage system with a capacity of 1 MWh is integrated into the system. The operation of a hydrogen filling station with a throughput of 200 kg per day was also approved.
APEX Group (“APEX”), a leading developer and operator of green hydrogen electrolysis plants for the decarbonization of industry, infrastructure and mobility, has been awarded a contract in a public tender by rebus Regionalbus Rostock GmbH (“rebus”). The project comprises the planning, construction, operation and maintenance of two hydrogen filling stations at the rebus bus depots in Güstrow and Bad Doberan. In addition, APEX will be given a mandate to provide the two filling stations with green hydrogen. rebus is a bus company based in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. The filling stations are expected to be operational by the beginning of 2024 and will become the property of rebus upon completion. rebus plans to procure and operate 47 fuel cell low-floor solo buses in the 12-meter variant and five additional fuel cell articulated buses in the 18-meter variant. Delivery of the first hydrogen bus is expected in early 2024. Subsequently, further buses will be delivered monthly, so that the hydrogen-powered bus fleet is scheduled to be complete with 52 vehicles at the beginning of 2025.
The foundation stone for one of Germany and Europe’s most significant industrial hydrogen projects was laid today in Bremen-Mittelsbüren. The “HyBit” joint venture, involving energy providers swb, EWE, and ArcelorMittal Bremen steelworks, aims to reduce CO2 emissions in steel production and initiate the decarbonization process within the industry. In July 2022, the APEX GROUP, based in Rostock-Laage, was entrusted with constructing the electrolysis plant. The HyBit project represents an investment of approximately €20 million, and the facility’s completion is scheduled for mid-2024.
First hydrogen filling station for heavy-duty vehicles in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern goes into operation
Green hydrogen for trucks, buses, and cars is now available around the clock from the APEX Group in Rostock-Laage – logistics companies and transport operators benefit. On Friday, October 21, 2022, the first hydrogen filling station for heavy-duty transport in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern officially went into operation in Rostock-Laage. In the presence of the Minister of Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Tourism and Labor MV, Reinhard Meyer, the Managing Director of APEX Group, Peter Rößner, performed the symbolic first refueling of a truck. The facility, which is open around the clock, enables, e.g., transport companies or logistics companies to refuel their vehicles at a public filling station and thus transport passengers and goods without emissions. Hydrogen-powered cars can also be refueled at this filling station. The investment volume for the facility amounts to approximately three million euros.
Energiedienst AG (Rheinfelden), an energy company EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG subsidiary, commissions the APEX Group from Rostock with a project in the double-digit millions: APEX will build a 5 MW electrolysis plant for the production of green hydrogen as a system integrator. The electrolysis plant is the centerpiece of the publicly funded project living laboratory “H2-Wyhlen”: The regenerative energy carrier hydrogen will be produced here – with the aim of making it economically viable and suitable for the mass market in the future. Energiedienst could thus offer its industrial and private customers a CO2-free gaseous energy carrier in the future.
At the end of the year, the corona pandemic is drawing attention to those people who showed a big heart or did exemplary things during the crisis. In Hamburg some of them have now been honored with a prize by the TV program guide rtv and the Face-Club.com network. Under the patronage of the First Mayor of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg Dr. Peter Tschentscher was awarded the “Makers of the Year” award to people, companies and non-profit initiatives who demonstrated community spirit, resourcefulness and drive during the Corona crisis. The award was given in the categories “Prominent Makers”, “Companies” and “Charity Initiatives”. In addition, two special prizes were presented in the “Charity” and “Future” categories.
EWE and swb award the contract to the APEX Group for the construction of an electrolysis plant for the decarbonization of the ArcelorMittal steel works in Bremen. The Hybit project comprises an investment volume of over 20 million euros. The project name HyBit stands for “Hydrogen for Bremen’s industrial transformation” and marks the beginning of the decarbonization of steel production in Bremen. It is considered one of the largest industrial hydrogen projects of its kind in Germany and Europe to date and is a joint project by EWE, swb and ArcelorMittal Bremen. The APEX Group will realize the heart of the project with a ten megawatt electrolysis plant for hydrogen production. The aim is to use electrolysis to produce green hydrogen at the swb power plant site in Bremen-Mittelsbüren. This will be used for pig iron production and processing in the Arcelor Mittal steel works as well as for future mobility applications. It will save tons of CO2 amounts. The plant is scheduled to go into operation in 2024.

Die Jungo Tech GmbH wird in Laage ab dem Jahr 2022 zunächst von der APEX Group angemietete Büro- und Produktionsflächen nutzen. Im darauffolgenden Jahr soll eine eigens errichtete Werkshalle im CO2-neutralen Industriepark der APEX Group bezogen werden, in der sich dann die Verwaltung und die Produktion befinden. Es handelt sich bei der Jungo Tech GmbH um eine Tochtergesellschaft der Jungo ICEE AG. Das Unternehmen produziert elektrifizierte Fahrzeuge für öffentliche und kommunale Abnehmer, wie Straßenkehrmaschinen oder Streufahrzeuge.
